Good morning! I was wondering about the field trip to Magic House tomorrow - if you have me down as a chaperone. I have the day off to go on the trip, but haven't seen anything come home with Patrick about it. Thanks!

It appears that the "Donuts with Dad" event was a great success at your school. It is a simple, yet creative, idea, and I appreciate your efforts to increase parental involvement. As educators, we have a responsibility to "bridge the gap" between home and school environments and promote strong and healthy families. Inviting parents to participate in school functions is just one of the many ways that we can encourage meaningful interactions between parents and children.
With all that being said, I have a simple question about the nature of this event. An unfortunate societal trend is that many children are growing up in family structures that lack a father figure. Taking that variable into consideration, how do you ensure that all children can attend "Donuts with Dad"? Are children permitted to invite a grandfather, uncle, or family friend if their father is unable to come? It seems as if broadening the invitation would allow more students to benefit from this fun and special event.
Once again, "Donuts with Dad" looks like it was a great success. Thanks for the creative idea!
