Blogging Info for Parents

A blog, or weblog, is an online diary where an individual or group posts journal entries.  The latest post is always shown first.  Readers can type comments on each entry, and there are often links to other places on the world wide web that the blog administrator thinks may be of interest to readers.

I like how this video explains blogs:

Our blog has glimpses into everyday classroom happenings, student work, and loads of photos. It is a way we communicate with people outside school, show off work, and practice utilizing technology skills.

Class Blogging Guidelines

0     Students will only be identified by their first names in text.  Parents, when you post comments, use your first name or a phrase like “Susan’s dad” or “Joey’s aunt”.

0     Names will not be added to photos of students.

0     Students will not post personal or identifying information.

0     All comments will be approved by Mrs. S before they are made public.

0     The class will thoroughly discuss blogging policies and internet safety and revisit them as necessary throughout the school year.
